At GenomeMiner, we believe that bioinformatics in combination with DNA sequencing and synthetic DNA will allow us to sustainably produce valuable natural products and even develop new ones. Originally founded as , the company started developing software tools for synthetic biology companies. Finding the market demand quite limited, the team started a proof of concept experiment with a local partner to screen for wild microbes with anti-fungal characteristics for downstream analysis. This early-stage work motivated a pivot into genome mining, and focus on obtaining data from organisms in the subtropical region of Okinawa. While the original tenets of the company remain the same, to provide bioinformatics solutions that are intuitive, essential, and collaborative, our vision has expanded to obtain proprietary data to build better genome mining software that is A.I. driven, and be able to develop our own end-products.
