Mumbai: Nobody was taken by surprise when Mohan Rawale, a former member of parliament (MP) from the Shiv Sena who represented the South Central Mumbai constituency five times in the Lok Sabha, was expelled for anti-party activities on 3 December.
What was surprising, though, was that he was thrown out of the party after holding a press conference that very day, in which he alleged that the Sena had become a party of power brokers and blamed Milind Narvekar, personal assistant and secretary to Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, for the rift between him and Thackeray.
Rawale was not the first leader to blame Narvekar and is not likely to be the last.
Sena stalwarts such as former chief minister and current industry minister Narayan Rane; Raj Thackeray, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief and estranged cousin of Uddhav; and former minister and present state president of the Nationalist Congress Party Bhaskar Jadhav, all had one thing in common—they blamed Narvekar for creating a rift between them and former Sena chief Bal Thackeray and Uddhav.
